FAQ

Choose your download, then follow the steps below.

Patched or original addon

Use guides generated with your BattleTag. You can update the addon from CurseForge, GitHub or another source.

  1. Click Download patched addon here, or install the original RestedXP addon.
  2. For a ZIP download, unzip it and put the RXPGuides folder in Interface/AddOns for the WoW version you play.
  3. Restart WoW and enable RestedXP Guides in the AddOns menu.
  4. Enter your BattleTag on this site, then click Copy code on the guide card you want.
  5. In game, right-click the RestedXP window and choose Import guide. Paste the whole code, click Import and wait for it to finish. Use /reload, then choose your guide.

BattleTagless addon

Your chosen guide collections are already included in the addon.

  1. Click Download BattleTagless addon, select your collections, then click Build & download.
  2. Unzip it. Put the RXPGuides folder in Interface/AddOns for the WoW version you play.
  3. Restart WoW and enable RestedXP Guides in the AddOns menu.
  4. Right-click the RestedXP window and choose your guide. The selected collections load automatically on their matching game version.

No BattleTag or import code needed. Guides for both Horde and Alliance are included.

Both downloads use the same RXPGuides folder. Install one version at a time.

Why isn't the addon showing in game?

Check the folder layout: Interface/AddOns/RXPGuides. The .toc files should be directly inside RXPGuides, with no extra folder around them. Make sure you used the folder for the WoW version you play, then fully restart the game.

How do I update it?

Patched or original addon: As long as your guides were generated with your BattleTag, you can update RestedXP from CurseForge, GitHub or another source and keep using them with that BattleTag. Download from this site if you want the website patches included. Generate a fresh code here when you want updated guides.

BattleTagless addon: Download a new copy here and select your collections again. Close WoW, then replace the RXPGuides folder. This keeps your selected guides included.

The site checks for new addon releases every minute while the page is visible.

Changelog

Guide updates, addon fixes and improvements to the vault.

Addon downloads

  • Updated both addon downloads and the verified fallback to v4.11.14. Kept the existing fixes and the new official Skyborne and starting-zone updates.
  • Fixed update checks getting stuck during GitHub API rate limits. The site can verify the official download using the checksum on GitHub's public release page, and it keeps checking every minute while the page is visible.
  • Forever dungeon routes now show for older saved profiles too. Beta Features is enabled once for Forever, and later changes to the setting are respected.
  • Fixed guide selection in BattleTagless downloads. Only selected collections load, including their built-in guides. Cleaned the Forever pack of unrelated SoD, Hardcore, TBC preparation and Classic collections while keeping its leveling, Mage AoE and built-in dungeon routes.
  • Fixed the Forever Horde dungeon wrappers for Undead, Durotar and Mulgore. Nine bad includes now point to RestedXP Forever Guide (H) instead of the Alliance group.
  • Removed 69 legacy RestedXP TBC Preparation records from the Classic Era bundle. Classic Era now contains 737 Era/Hardcore/Season of Discovery guides; the TBC preparation collection remains in the TBC bundle.
  • Fixed the BattleTagless Forever loader so classic and !classic conditions match Classic behavior. TBC-only dungeon guides such as Underbog and Auchenai Crypts no longer parse on Forever and produce invalid zone ID errors.
  • Changed embedded guide ordering for every supported stock XML list so official v4.11.12 routes load first and win equal-version ties; supplemental and explicitly newer embedded routes still load normally.
  • Removed the repeated version and ready message from the download section. The latest release stays in the top release bar, and download progress and errors still appear when needed.
  • Updated the addon banner to explain the patched and BattleTagless downloads. The BattleTagless option includes your chosen guides and needs no BattleTag.

Midnight guide update

  • Restored the full 42-step Call of the Void route from the earlier Midnight backup. Added it as chapter 6 under Curse of Ula'tek for both factions, after The Battle of Atal'Utek. All six chapters now use blue numbers 1-6.
  • Replaced the Midnight bundle with the supplied 869-guide export, covering Midnight and Speed Leveling for both factions. Updated guide downloads, Copy code, one-time imports and BattleTagless builds.
  • Removed the source account binding. Visitors can generate the import for their own BattleTag.
  • Kept the Level-Up Campaign menu order correction in the updated import.

Site layout

  • Clarified that BattleTag-generated guides work with the patched or original addon and allow addon updates from CurseForge, GitHub or another source.
  • Added an FAQ beside Changelog with simple setup steps for the patched and BattleTagless addons, plus installation and update help.
  • Changed the update check time to a 12-hour clock with AM or PM.
  • Made Export tools wider and taller. Decoder fields and action buttons sit side by side on desktop, and the open tool heading takes less space.
  • Updated the desktop layout to fill the available height while keeping normal scrolling on shorter windows.
  • Moved the creator credit into Export tools, below the decoder.
  • Made the desktop layout a little wider, with larger card text, buttons and images. Kept the compact four-column layout and existing mobile sizes.
  • Combined the release status and addon downloads into one compact section.
  • Reduced the space above the library and shortened the card images. Wide screens now show four guides per row, so all seven collections fit into two rows.
  • Kept the full guide descriptions and controls, with layouts that adapt to smaller screens.
  • Moved Decode & Prepare and Share a Guide into an Export tools popup beside Changelog.
  • Moved Download all beside the guide library heading and removed its separate banner.
  • Moved the BattleTag field beside Find an expansion and removed the account panel. The controls stack on smaller screens.
  • Kept the decoder, guide submission and manual copy fallback working inside the tools popup.

Guide descriptions

  • Rewrote the expansion card descriptions around the guide content, using short summaries of RestedXP's descriptions.
  • Kept guide totals and import details in the information buttons. Classic Era keeps its Era, Hardcore and Season of Discovery description.

Guide counts

  • Added a small information button beside every card's guide count. Hover, focus or tap it to see what is included and why the import total can differ.
  • Explained built-in guides, faction and class variants, and the extra compatibility entries in the Retail download.

Forever dungeon guides

  • Enabled Beta Features by default in both website addon downloads so the available Forever dungeon guides appear without an extra setup step.
  • Applied the default to restored profiles where the setting is missing. Players can still turn it off in Options.

Forever guides

  • Updated the Skyborne starting route on Zephras Isle, including the missing spirit resurrection skips.
  • Fixed older embedded Forever routes taking priority when their version number matched the official guide. The downloaded addon now loads its stock Forever guides first. This covers Skyborne and 22 other starter routes.
  • Kept the full 1 to 60 guide collection for both factions. Embedded guides with a higher version still take priority.

Choosing your addon guides

  • Added a guide selector to the BattleTagless download. Choose one or more collections, or select all seven.
  • Simplified the guide selector label to Midnight and clarified that guides for both Horde and Alliance are included.
  • The addon build now downloads and embeds only the selected packs. Import fixes, automatic release checks and built-in starter guides are kept.

Midnight menu order

  • Moved the 80 to 87 Level-Up Campaigns above Max-Level Campaigns for both factions.
  • Updated the Retail import code and embedded addon guides. Re-importing the code replaces the old campaign menu weights.

Changelog

  • Added a Changelog button beside the top navigation, with the earlier guide updates, addon fixes and site changes in one place.

Guide updates

  • Refreshed 35 Horde Burning Crusade guides, covering leveling, dungeon quests and expansion preparation.
  • Refreshed 44 Horde Classic Era and Season of Discovery entries. Alliance and shared routes were kept intact.
  • Added A/H labels to every expansion card, update badges with the full date on hover, and a 1 to 60 label for Forever. Update labels now show how long ago each bundle changed.
  • Compared the separate Forever export with the library. Its 83 guides were already included, so the existing routes were kept.

Retail repairs

  • Rebuilt the Retail collection from the supplied full guide source. Restored missing The War Within routes and checked the Midnight campaign, Sojourner and storyline menus.
  • Kept separate guides that share a display name but belong to different routes or factions. Only genuine duplicate menu entries were removed.
  • Repaired old guide links, missing include targets and step labels. Restored the split Isle of Dorn multibox route and fixed the housing step link in Exile's Reach.
  • Updated What Slept Below to use supported scenario commands.
  • Added clearly marked placeholders for the two Torment's Rise chapters missing from the supplied source, rather than inventing quest instructions.
  • Removed unused Midsummer source fragments that the standard importer could not load. The Retail collection retains 1,502 routes.

Imports and the BattleTagless addon

  • Removed copies already supplied by the official addon from the supplemental imports. Burning Crusade imports 525 additional guides alongside 180 built-in routes. Pandaria imports 182 alongside 24 built-in routes.
  • Fixed the Burning Crusade import stopping on the Hunter version of 6 to 11 Dun Morogh. Corrected unsupported XP commands and malformed trainer, death-skip and Bronze Tube instructions.
  • Fixed the BattleTagless Forever addon showing only starter routes even though the full guide pack was installed.
  • Added game checks to the embedded packs so Forever, Classic and expansion-specific guides load on the right client.
  • Fixed a Lua syntax error in exported guides ending with a closing bracket. Set Show Unused Guides to off by default in generated addon builds.

Update checks

  • Made release checks more reliable when the upstream service is slow, unavailable or rate limited. Checks share a request, retry temporary failures and keep the last verified release available.
  • Stopped an older response from replacing a newer detected version.
  • Added a waiting status for releases announced before their addon ZIP is available. The site checks again automatically and does not mistake a source-code archive for the addon download.
  • Kept archive size, checksum and supported patch checks before offering a download.

Memory and loading

  • Moved guide data out of the page into compressed files that load only when needed.
  • Reused compressed guide and Lua packs when building downloads, avoiding unnecessary decoding and extra copies in memory.
  • Loaded the ZIP and decoding libraries only when their tools are used. Added responsive WebP card artwork while keeping the original images as fallbacks.
  • Reduced download progress redraws and built addon downloads directly as browser files. The existing download, copy, decode and submission tools remain available.

Library and menus

  • Added the Classic Era collection with 806 guides for Era, Hardcore and Season of Discovery, plus its own artwork and download options.
  • Restored The War Within guides that had been removed along with Remix content.
  • Removed Legion Remix, Pandaria Remix and the old The War Within preparation collection. The current leveling and campaign collections were kept.
  • Fixed duplicate Midnight entries, including The War of Light and Shadow and Endeavor quest setup.
  • Restored Harandar as chapter 3 under Level-Up Campaigns and Eversong Woods under Sojourner & Storylines.
  • Moved War Within and War Within Campaigns under Dragonflight in the addon menu, followed by Speed Leveling.
  • Removed separate Cataclysm collections from the Pandaria bundle while keeping shared routes and Pandaria leveling, reputation and preparation guides.

Import fixes

  • Fixed Classic Era imports stopping at 246 of 806 guides by correcting conditional guide names.
  • Fixed final-line comments being read as part of quest IDs, including the Naxxramas Attunement error.
  • Added support for the XP-to-60 command used by Burning Crusade Anniversary guides.
  • Corrected 404 Isle of Thunder travel coordinates and waypoint markers in the Pandaria exports.
  • Sped up addon imports with batched work, reusable decoding buffers and fewer progress redraws. Import progress no longer rebuilds the saved-guide list on every update.

Addon downloads and updates

  • Added Download patched addon to fetch the official release, apply the fixes and return a ready-to-install ZIP.
  • Added the BattleTagless addon download with all seven guide collections embedded, plus one-time expansion addon imports.
  • Added a Wrath guide loader to generated builds and kept faction, class and client restrictions.
  • Updated the bundled verified fallback to v4.11.12 while preserving the release's own guide and addon changes.
  • Added automatic release checks on page load, every minute while the page is visible, and before addon downloads.
  • Added the latest-release banner with the detected version, last check time and download status.

Site layout

  • Removed the large homepage banner and moved the patched addon downloads to the top.
  • Gave the BattleTag field its own panel and removed the overlap with the banner.
  • Removed the permanent glow from the addon download buttons. They now brighten on hover.
  • Added the gold star as the browser tab icon to match the site logo.

The first library update

  • Replaced the original library with the supplied expansion bundles and removed their fixed source-account binding. New import codes use the BattleTag entered on the site.
  • Matched the addon's export format and added checks for damaged files, incorrect guide counts and incompatible formats.
  • Added Decode & Inspect, a first-guide preview, decoded-text downloads and the option to prepare an import for another BattleTag.
  • Corrected the original Forever conditional-name parser errors without changing the route steps.

Cards and tools

  • Redesigned the library with expansion cards, search, Retail and Classic filters, keyboard focus states and a mobile layout.
  • Added matching painted expansion artwork, including the two bears in a mountain meadow for Forever.
  • Made All guides the default when opening or returning to the page.
  • Reworked and aligned the Decode & Prepare and Share a Guide cards.
  • Removed the browser-powered label, local-processing badge, decorative heading line and em dashes from the page text.
  • Added a gold shimmer to the Azeroth text in the original homepage banner, with a static option for reduced-motion settings.
  • Replaced copying hundreds of small parts with one complete Copy code action. Added a manual copy dialog for browsers that block clipboard access.
  • Changing the BattleTag now resets the download status so codes can be prepared for the new account.
